There’s no debate about taking vitamins for Us

Until the 1900s, vitamins and minerals were obtained solely through the food we ate, and changes in diet (which, for example, could occur during a particular growing season) can alter the types and amounts of vitamins and minerals we ingested. That was back in time when there wasn’t a drive thru fast food joint on every corner.

In today’s world if we are to keep ourselves healthy we need nutritional health supplements that contain the vitamins and minerals that we simply cannot get from our diets. That’s not to say we shouldn’t attempt to eat a well balanced diet. We still need calories from the best nutritional source we can get them from. It’s also important to know the vitamins that our food does contain are vulnerable to heat, light, and chemical agents, so food preparation and storage must be appropriate to preserve those vitamins.

Why do we need them though? Vitamins are required for our body to maintain metabolic activities and the protection of our body from different diseases. They are essential for converting blood sugar into energy and are involved in metabolic activities in nerves, the heart, the muscles and in the production of red blood cells.

Minerals and trace elements must also be available for maintaining proper health. Minerals are needed for several body functions including building strong bones, transmitting nerve signals, maintaining a normal heart beat, and are used to produce necessary hormones. Minerals are essential components of cell membranes, enzymes, and glandular secretions, acid-base balance, blood volume, and the activity of our muscles.

Vitamins are classified as either water-soluble, meaning that they dissolve easily in water, or fat-soluble vitamins, which are absorbed through the intestinal tract., but the fat-soluble vitamins are transported to other areas via the lymph system while water-soluble vitamins are conveyed to tissues via the circulatory system.

Since we know that we need nutritional health supplements in our diets to get the nutrients we need, we have to choose a product that will introduce the vitamins & minerals to our digestive system so they can be absorbed properly. It doesn’t make sense to take a lower quality lower cost pill that doesn’t get utilized by your body because it doesn’t get broken down and used. Some of these pills with big names attached to them look the same when they exit your digestive system as they did when you swallowed them. The coating that’s put on them just doesn’t break down with your digestive juices.

To be properly assimilated by your body the nutrients need to be released according to where they are in your digestive tract. The water soluble nutrients need to be released immediately in your stomach to be most beneficial. The fat soluble nutrients have to be absorbed in the intestinal tract so they must make it through the stomach before they start breaking down. It’s great to be able to feel the difference while taking nutritional health supplements that can deliver the right amount and type of nutrients to the right place in my body and deliver it at the right time in the digestion process.
